Halloween in Lucca

Although Halloween is a somewhat recent tradition in Italy, it's taken very seriously.
Most stores have Halloween themed displays, kids go trick-or-treating (translated as dolcetto scherzetto in Italian), and you see quite a few people, including adults, walking around in funny costumes. This year the pointy hat was really in fashion, and even the staff at our local bar spent the day serving a Witches Brew that tasted a lot like Italian Coffee.
This being Italy, where kids typically stay up until at least 10 at night, and the next day, All Saints Day, being a holiday, trick-or-treating takes place at night. The last group actually buzzed at our door at 11:30pm!
For older kids and adults, the biggest Halloween party in the area is undoubteddly in Borgo A Mozzano, 30 minutes North towards the Garfagnana. It's a huge event, the whole town (and quite a few of the inhabitants of the neighbooring towns) is out, costumed, partying. You can get a lot more information on their website Halloween Celebration (in Italian).
