Paperwork

Often, people that would normally consider a destination wedding decide to celebrate their wedding at home simply because of the paperwork involved in arranging a wedding abroad. At My Tuscan Wedding, we take the mystery out of the legal and ecclesiastical paperwork for you, so that you can concentrate on all the fun parts of planning your wedding in Italy.

To begin the process, we send you a step by step, easy to read guide that explains the documents you need to gather in your home country first in order to have a legally valid ceremony. Next we liaise with you and your country's consulate in Italy to make certain that the correct paperwork is issued by the consulate. Finally, we reserve a date at the local Registrar's Office here in Lucca or a surrounding town, where we submit all the paperwork and we act as your legal interpreter during a brief interview between you and the Registrar. Two business days later, you are free to marry.

On your wedding day we then act as your legal interpreter for the actual ceremony. This means that the person who has planned your wedding is also the person who cares for your legal paperwork as well as the content of the actual wedding ceremony. We suggest appropriate readings, ring and vow exchanges, arrange for live music and refreshments following the ceremony. The end result is a high degree of uniformity and consistency throughout the day, from ceremony to reception, one person, one vision.

At My Tuscan Wedding, we do not outsource your paperwork to third parties. We follow the legal documentation of each bride and groom personally from beginning to end so you are not left with having to email different people to get answers to your questions.

One business day after your wedding has taken place, your wedding planner will present herself at the Registrar's Office and obtain for you three multilingual copies of the marriage act to take back with you to your hometown so you can change your documents and your civil status with your local Registrar.

Trying to plan a smaller scale wedding in Lucca on your own, but stuck about how to do the documents, find an interpreter and book the town hall? Write to us. We offer many bespoke packages for brides and grooms, and would be happy to provide you with a quote.
