A very busy week-end

This weekend the weather was gorgeous in Lucca. That was quite fortunate because a lot was going on in the city:

  • the antique market, which happens on the 3rd weekend of each month,
  • a concert of popular Italian and Neapolitan songs from... Puccini of course,
  • the Sport per Tutti event offered demonstrations of all sorts of sports, including karate, tango (!) and even an MLB sponsored base-ball tent,
  • on Sunday there were bicycle races on the wall, which drew a huge crowd, cycling being undoubtly the second most popular sport in Italy, after of course calcio (soccer),
  • stores stayed open on Sunday afternoon, and the streets were absolutey pack during the passegiata.

Of course on Sunday made the mistake to leave the city for the afternoon, so it took us about 40 minutes to get a parking spot when we came back at night.
