September will be really busy this year in Lucca: it starts this week end with the Murabilia, a big flower expo on the walls (see the official site, in Italian, and some info in English here). We did could not visit it yesterday, as Gina had a wedding, but we'll sure go there this week-end, as it is always a beautiful sight.

Then every week-end in September, the nearby town of Capannori organizes a "Festival of the Villas" ( Festival delle Ville). Highlights include September 9-10 a classic week-end, followed September 15-17 by a hot air ballon competition, and September 22-24 a model airplane World Cup championship. Most of those events are located in some of the most beautiful villas in the area, so they will be well worth attending.
